The Book Bindery

This frame structure was built by Historic Sugartown to contain and demonstrate an extensive collection of 19th-century bookbinding tools.  These tools were collected and used by late master binder Fred Shihadeh at his shop in Ardmore, Pennsylvania.  Since the collection is broad in scope, the student can witness the full spectrum of implements used by the artisans over a vast period of time.

Bookbinding classes are held on site by professional bookbinder, Bridget Bullen.  For more details, please visit our Upcoming Events page.
